The editorial board of the journal «GRAIL OF SCIENCE» adheres to the principles of integrity, transparency, and responsibility, and is guided by international standards of publication ethics and relevant national regulations, in particular:
– best practice recommendations for publishers by
Committee on Publication Ethics
– recommendations on ethics and editorial processes by
World Association of Medical Editors
– principles set out in the
San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment
– recommendations on ethics by
European Association of Science Editors
– as well as the standards established in
Code of Ethics of a Scientist of Ukraine
The editorial board consistently opposes any forms of research and publication misconduct. Particular attention is paid to ensuring the originality of scientific works and preventing plagiarism. More details on this can be found in the «Plagiarism Policy» section. This policy on research misconduct applies to all participants in the editorial process, regardless of their role.
Research misconduct subject to sanctions.
1. Plagiarism and self-plagiarism:
– use of texts, ideas, or results without proper attribution;
– reuse of previously published materials without appropriate disclosure.
2. Duplicate or parallel submission:
– submission of the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously (including for parallel peer review without publication);
– submission of multiple publications based on the same study without proper justification;
– partial or paraphrased duplication of previously published works.
3. Falsification or fabrication of data:
– invention of results or generation of results using AI;
– selective or intentionally distorted presentation of data.
4. Citation manipulation:
– artificial addition of references to increase citation metrics;
– intentional promotion of specific authors or journals through citations.
5. Improper authorship attribution:
– inclusion of individuals who did not make a significant contribution (gift authorship);
– exclusion of individuals who made a significant contribution (ghost authorship);
– submission of a manuscript without the consent of all co-authors.
6. Failure to disclose conflicts of interest:
– non-disclosure or intentional concealment of actual conflicts of interest, including financial, professional, or personal.
Sanctions in case of research misconduct.
In the event of research misconduct, the editorial board may apply the following measures:
– immediate rejection of the manuscript;
– rejection of other manuscripts by the same author under review;
– prohibition on submitting new manuscripts for up to 24 months;
– retraction of a published work;
– publication of a notice of misconduct (if necessary);
– notification of affiliated institutions or relevant organizations.
Principle of proportionality.
Sanctions are applied taking into account the nature and severity of the violation. In cases of minor or unintentional violations, authors may be offered the opportunity to revise the manuscript instead of imposing sanctions. The editorial board reserves the right to apply additional restrictions depending on the nature of the violation.
